Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
i got released last april 2011..i was placed on "formal" probation...for a year..i paid payments,lost days at work to report wen i needed too, i got arrested at probation last week because i was late a few days so they calld it a "probation violation"..i got to court and they find out that i was never supposed to be on "formal" i was supposed to be on "informal"..they called it "clerk error"..they dropped the violation because i was never supposed to be on "formal" anyway so i never violated...i was 3 weeks from finishing up my 1 year..but i already paid payments to probation, and lost many half days of work to report threw out the year...how can i get my money back that i paid and for the time lost at work?

Theoretically, you can try by filing a Governmental Claim for Damages, but I wouldn't hold my breath while waiting for a check. Those Claims are generally denied automatically, which would require you to file a lawsuit, pay costs, pay attorney fees, etc. Your call.
