Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

restraining order against minor regarding my teenage girl

I want to know what legal rights I have to restrict contact between a minor boy and my 14 year old daughter. Is it possible to obtain a restraining order to keep him away from her? They do not attend the same school and do not share any church or civic interests so it would not be infringing on his normal activities.

Re: restraining order against minor regarding my teenage girl

Yes, but only if he is harassing or threatening her. You have provided no explanation for why you want such an order, and the fact that the order would not interfere with his normal activities is no reason to burden him with a court order. You can't get a restraining order just because you prefer to keep them separated.

Restraining orders are serious things, and you will need to prove your allegations to the court. If there is a genuine problem then by all means you should get an order, but if there is not you could find yourself in real trouble for subjecting him to this process unnecessarily and for taking up the court's time.
