Can a retired medical doctor in California use the title doctor?

Yes. So can lawyers who have juris doctorate degrees, and people with doctorates of philosophy. What is the point?

The "Doctor" title comes from his degree. He can't 'retire' from his degree. As with Mr. Roach, what is your point?
