The US and State constitution contain rights for all accused of a crime, retired police officer or not. A retired police officer CONVICTED of a crime, as others have mentioned, are normally put in protective custody, for their safety.

you have the same rights as anyone else, plus [probably] the right to be segregated in the jail to protect you.

I am unaware of any special treatment for retired police officers that are arrested or convicted of a crime. The only way they are treated differently is they are housed, kept in, protective custody or another state where they are not know to the prisoner's as a police officer. There may be special requirements for maintaining their records in jail or prison, but I doubt that this is the case.
