If you didn't lose any money, then by definition you haven't been scammed. No harm, no foul. Lucky you.

Sure. How much money are you willing to pay attorneys to file a case in Canada? With no money lost, the case has no value. You could file a complaint with the Post Office and Attorney General.

Yes, you can file charges but not in the way you're thinking. I am assuming some form of mail was used regarding this situation. You best bet is to contact the Attorney General's office, The U.S. Post Office and the homeland security, (aka I.C.E.).

Your answer is really not in the criminal area of law, but in the tort area of law and possibly in the Contract area of law, depending on the specific facts. However, Mr. Nelson's answer is right on. Since you admit you have not lost any money, you really don't have any measurable damages. Your time and energy will not be considered measurable damages. So there aren't going to be any attorneys that will take the case based on a contingency fee. Therefore the only way for an attorney to be compensated in this matter is by either charging you a flat fee (highly unlikely) or by charging you by the hour. If money is no object and you can afford to pursue the matter without receiving a financial return on the lawsuit then you may be able to pursue the matter. However if that is not your situation I doubt you will receive the satisfaction you're seeking.

Good luck,

Brian McGinity
