Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Im scared
I was arrested for petty theft. I had some issues and stresses in my life and thought having things would make it go away. I fully regret my mistakes and dont want to be paying for this for the rest of my life. I made a bad choice. I paid for all the merchandise and returned what I still had. I just want to move on. My question is, is there anything more I can do to show the judge that it wont happen again and keep from going to jail. Charges were not pressed if that helps at all.

Re: Im scared
If charges weren't pressed, you wouldn't have been arrested. You are facing 'charges' in court. It's up to you if you hire counsel, but doing so shows the court you have 'paid a price' in doing so, and that helps you. An attorney can effectively present all the facts, evidence, arguments and persuasion to the DA and court, that's what we get paid to do. Feel free to contact me if you want legal help, if the case is in SoCal.
