Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Sealing Old Records
I had a felony conviction approximately 30 years ago at age 20, for possession and intent to sell drugs (if you can believe this I truly was holding for a friend)I had been drinking, and was convicted and served jail time. 30 years later, I find myself recently unemployed and while applying for jobs in facilities maintenance area, when I get to a question ''have you ever been convicted of a felony?'' It seems so final if you put yes regarding in chance of employment. Is there any way to get the record sealed? I have had no other problems with legal matters since. Thank you for any help you can give me.

Getting it expunged is the answer, although you would still have to disclose the conviction on applications for government employment. My rates are very reasonable.

Re: Sealing Old Records
You can have the conviction"expunged" so that you have the right to deny that you have that conviction on any job application. But there are many things that you need to know before you should deny this conviction. Also, getting it requires a slightly complex legal proceeding that a lawyer can do for you much easier than you can do it for yourself. Altho, if you are willing to put up with some aggravation and do all the research yourself, and willing to deal with a very user-UNFRIENDLY system with which you are completely unfamiliar, and if time is no object, then you can do it yourself. If you'd like to talk about this further and maybe have it done right in the shortest period of time so you can get a job, please don't hesitate to contact me.

You should be able to get the conviction expunged through a series of motions in court. Doing so will allow you to say "NO" to convictions on private employment applications. Contact when you're ready to do it rigth. It isn't all that expensive.
