serving jail time in another location

how do you go about transfering to another jail to serve jail time?

my realative is in c.a. and wants to serve her time here in ohio where she will be living after times served.

how does she transfer?

Nice try. IF he can get an agreement with the local Ohio jail to 'pay to stay', he then could file a motion with the CA court seeking an order. It's not likely to succeed, but he can try. If he is serious, once he gets the agreement with Ohio, have him contact me for the CA motion.

She doesn't. Ohio taxpayers shouldn't have to foot the bill for imprisoning people who commit crimes in California or for moving them across the country.

California's prisons are overcrowded and it has begun paying other states to house some of its inmates, but I don't know whether Ohio participates in this program and I don't think inmates are allowed to volunteer for the program.

Besides, Ohio's prisons may also be overcrowded. If they are, that will be another reason why your relative would not be able to get a transfer.
