sexual harrassment of a minor

an 18 year old man sending sexual messages and vulgarities to a 16 year old...what are the rights of a parent

This one is easy. You can do it either one of two ways. Save the messages and inform him that if he ever contacts your daughter again, you will deliver them to the police, or don't be nice and just do it. He is in violation of several criminal laws in doing this.

Since he is just 18 and may not have appreciated the drastic changes in his legal status yet, you might want to give him a break by warning him.

File criminal charges with the police. If necessary, seek a Restraining Order from court if you know the identity and address of the man. If this is in SoCal, and if you want legal help in doing so, feel free to contact me.
