Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Sheriffs Dept. Corruption and Theft

The sheriffs dept. searched my home looking for stolen property, and took about 20 police report pages worth of stuff from me. They did not leave a receipt for anything that they took. It appeared to me that they were just grabbing everything that they could get their hands on. They also took several more items that could have filled another 5-10 police report pages, but they didnt make it into the report. The main items being a huge coin collection worth about $75,000. There were literally thousands of coins in the collection, and not one made it into the police report. So now I have no proof that they took the collection, except that during my interrogation I told the detective that I had receipts for most of the items they took from my home including the coins. I told him that my grandfather gave me alot of the collection, but that I had receipts for some of the higher value gold coins. He told me that if I had the receipts, then he would give me my coins back. I produced the receipts, but now he denies any knowledge of the coins because they are not listed in the police report. So basically they just stole my property. What can be done about this? Do they record the interrogation? If so how do I get a copy of that tape? Thank

You can file a loss claim with the county, but without evidence and proof of what you allege, it is going nowhere. Maybe you can get affidavits of witnesses to the arrest,
