Re: shopelifting

A shoplifting conviction will result in your deportation, so you'd better hire a lawyer and fight the charge.

Re: shopelifting

Sure, anything is possible. Reality, however, is that you have to defend against the charges. Your lawyer may be able to negotiate a plea bargain 'deal' with the prosecutor, that avoids jail and deportation. Feel free to contact me if serious about getting legal help.

Re: shopelifting

An effective and dedicated lawyer might be able to resolve your case without creating a record of conviction, if this is your first offense and there are other "good" facts. As a foreigner you should be aware that pleading guilty or no-contest to certain crimes such as theft will create adverse immigration consequences, such as making you deportable or unable to apply for a green card, for example. Make sure to get representation by a defense lawyer who knows what he/she is doing in the immigration area.
