shoplifting

wat is probation meant for 1st time shoplifters? Will I be remanded in jail ?

If you are a first time offender accused of shoplifting, you had better borrow the money from somewhere and fight the charges. You might get probation if you are found guilty, but nobody will ever hire you for a job, ever.

Fight the charges - always. If you are convicted of first time shoplifting you are probably not going to jail but will receive probation. Probation means you'd better be on your finest behavior during the probationary period or you will get re-sentenced again, which might mean jail time.

Yes, jail is possible; so are fines and probation. Apply for the public defender if you can't afford to hire a criminal defense attorney to represent you. If the case is in SoCal courts, feel free to contact me if serious about doing so.
