Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

What would the significance be in being arrested for a bench warrant by the Department of Justice as oppose to a sheriff?

It seems to me unusual that someone would be arrested by an agent of the Dept. of Justice as opposed to a county sheriff's deputy. It would suggest to me that the individual is in a heap of (new) trouble. But the arrest is equally valid if there is a valid warrant.

My hunch is the same as Mr. Nelson's. But both California and the federal government have Departments of Justice, so it is not clear which department you are talking about. It would help to have more information.
