Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

My sister borrowed my car and called pulled over and they found a small amount of methamphetamine and put her in the police car. They then got an emergency call so they took her out of the car and told her to wait in the park that was right there. She didn't. Years later she got busted for writing false prescriptions where she found out she had a warrant for leaving the scene from before. She got a lawyer and she told him it was really me who was driving so they issued a warrant for me. This was back in 2000 and I had no idea since I don't drive anymore. I just found out. How do I handle this? My purse was in the back seat of MY car that they impounded. Why did they call me to come and get it if it was tied to a supposed crime? This is in California

Instead of telling/ admitting/ confessing all this story and all these detains to the world of the public internet, you should be contacting your criminal defense attorney and discussing them in confidence so he can represent you in court on this. He can then tell you what you can and should do. Th only valid advice you can get from anyone else is to 'remain silent' and do not talk to police without your attorney.
