Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

my son is becoming LAPD. Last weekend he was attacked at a night club by a very large man. He tried to walk away, 2 to 3 times, which the man would not let him. My son threw one punch and knocked the guy out. The police came. Ended up tazering the large man that started this. But because my son knocked him out they charged him with battery with bodily injury. He has his last interview with LAPD tomorrow. Should he tell him before he goes to court? Which is in another county? This is the first time this has ever happened to him. He is scared to death.

His record will be checked by LAPD regularly. This event will come to their attention, and he will face termination from the hiring process. If he lies and withholds this arrest, he will be terminated later when they find out, for lying. If he discloses, he at least has the ability to 'explain it away'. Good luck.
