Memorize this phrase: "Officer, I wish to remain silent and I respectfully decline to answer any questions until I have an attorney present." Even if you aren't arrested, do not talk to the police. They may say you are free to go, even if they plan to arrest you once they have the information they want, which avoids the obligation to advise you of your rights before questioning.

If you can afford to hire an attorney, do it now. Your lawyer may be able to avoid an arrest and jail, and just have you come to court. Lawyers' fees often pay for themselves by avoiding the costs of a bail bond.

Above all else, don't talk to ANYONE about your case except your lawyer.

Nothing other than hire an attorney if you are sure you will be arrested.
