Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
With a second strike for robbery in California, is it a good idea to accept a plea deal for a 6 year prison sentence, or is it wise to turn that down, in hopes of being offered a better deal before the case goes to trial?
Thanks!

Robbery is punishable by two, three or five years in state prison; with a strike, that is doubled to four, six or ten. There are other factors, like multiple victims, residential robbery and gang enhancements that could greatly increase the potential punishment.
Your lawyer -whether privately retained or public defender - is in a much better position to answer this question than a stranger on the Internet who knows nothing about the case.
No attorney on this site or elsewhere is going to give you specific legal advice on which you should rely to determine your future, without having an actual attorney-client relationship, and knowing all the facts, issues, defenses, etc. Ask your attorney, and if you don't trust his advise, then get a new attorney.
I concur with Mr. Nelson and Mr. Marshall. You would be foolish indeed to put any store in any attorney's "drive-by" advice on such a serious matter. Talk to your attorney about this and ask his reasons for his recommendations.
