Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I have been subpoenaed to be a witness in a murder trial in another state two weeks after my expected due date. I don't want to travel with a newborn and I don't want to leave my newborn behind, as I will be exclusively breastfeeding. What are my legal rights?

You need to talk to the prosecutor in the other state who subpoenaed you.

You 'legal rights' are to try to negotiate something with the attorney who subpoenaed you to avoid you being in contempt of court if you simply ignore the subpoena. Theoretically, you could have to hire an attorney to file a motion seeking a court order resolving this, but I would expect the attorneys to accommodate you.
