Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Can I sue the state of california after 16 years.
My dad was jailed 16 years ago. The
jail he was jailed in refused to give
him his medication, he had Cirrhosis
of the Liver. Not only did they refuse
to give him his medication, but one
of the officers hit him in the head
with his baton hard enough to put
him in the hospital which lead to his
death. Can i still open a case after 16
years?

I'm afraid not.

Does the term 'statute of limitations' ring a bell? Every claim has one. The heirs had no more than 12 months to bring action.
