Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
If you are suspected of receiving stolen property and the investigating officer wants to meet you at your residence for future questions, should you meet with them without an attorney?

Have you not seen enough TV cop shows to know to exercise the 5th Amendment right to SHUT UP and do NOT talk to ANYONE about the case except an attorney? Most police and prosecutors will happily tell you that 95% of people convict themselves by trying to be 'helpful and cooperative', either during initial contact, questioning, interview or interrogation. If serious about hiring counsel to help in this, and if this is in SoCal courts, feel free to contact me.
No, no, no.... a thousand times no. Do NOT meet with them under any circumstances. They're only hoping to get a statement from you that in some way incriminates you. You're under investigation for felony charges. You should be talking ONLY to your attorney. Look for a local criminal defense attorney that routinely practices in the county where your case is being investigated.
