Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Hi there,
If my friend hypothetically got caught carrying an ounce of shrooms, would it lessen their charge if me and a few others (who were not at all involved when he was caught) to come forward and say some of the shrooms were ours?

Not likely. Possession is not the same thing as ownership, so if they were in his possession -- and he knew both that he had them and what they were -- it wouldn't matter whether they were owned by someone else. But you and the others might get yourselves into serious trouble, whether your claim of ownership was true or false. You should consult with a lawyer before you involve yourself in any way.
