Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Threatening calls...........

I gave my phone number to a guy next to me at a stop light and invited him to a local bar to hang out later that night.(I know, stupid move in my part) By the time he arrived at the bar I was already engaged in conversation with someone else and I kind of blew him off. He then obviously became irrate because he called my cell phone and left numerous harassing phone calls anywhere from threatening me to calling me horrific names. I get those calls 3 times a day now and he just won't leave me alone. How can I press charges against this indivual if all I have is a cell phone number and a first name? I am really scared that if I run into this guy, he will hurt me. Any suggestion's?

Thank you for your posting.

As another attorney mentioned, going to the police may be a good first start. You also have the right to file a restraining order, and may need to file a case first to be able to subpoena the records for the phone number you have to be able to have an address to serve him. Good luck and be careful!
