Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Timeline from presented to DA to cout

Is there a timeline from when evidence is presented to the DA to the arraignment date? It has been over 2 months since I was approached by a police detective. How can I find out where this case (if there is a case) is in the system withOUT bringing attention to it? Please advise. Thanks.

Re: Timeline from presented to DA to court

You can't find out anything. The more time that goes by, the more likely that the case is a "DA reject" -- and the stronger argument you have that your right to a speedy trial was violated. Oh, and don't say anything to the police except "Can I call an attorney?" or "Am I free to leave?" and don't go to the police station unless arrested.

To avoid drawing attention: keep quiet. Any inquiry could 'kick the sleeping dog'.
