Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Underage Drinking and Property damage.

Well as it states in the heading, I am underage, 20, and i attended a party new years where along with a number of other underage drinkers. My problem is that in the heat of the night and with a few drinks in me. I knocked down a large stone lion statue in front of the owners house whom are now threatening to press charges if I dont repair or replace it. I have no problem admitting fault and fixing it but I dont really have the money to pay it or civil court charges if they want to go that route. now i hav a couple questions. Can they really press charges on me when the person in charge of the house that night was having an under age drinking party and he himself is underage and was drinking? Can the owner be responsible for underage drinking and party? Can i be charged with a crime and convicted? what area of the law does this fall under so that i can look it up. Now im not looking to cheat the system or anything like that. but i have no money and i dont know what to do. Also id like to add from personal experience and known acquaintances the kid throwing the party should usually be the one responsible to pay for damages but ppl now a days are just looking for reasons to get some money out of someone. Just a thought.

Thank you

Re: Underage Drinking and Property damage.

You admit you knocked it down, why would you think anyone else is responsible for the damage? Work out a payment plan to avoid being sued, or worse.
