Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Unreprted Child abuse

If a Dr saw an infant/toddler Who definately showed signs of sexual abuse and possible physical abuse and never reported it. (this would have been 1970-1974) What were the requirements for Dr's to report child abuse at that time? Also what legal options are there for the person now who had suffered the abuse? The person who abused the person is mentally ill. determined years after the incident) The DR who saw the person is still alive but retired. Medical records are currently being requested but they are in storage and will take some time.

Re: Unreprted Child abuse

You can forget any claim against the doctor. That Statute of limitations has long since run, if even there was liability under the law 30 years ago.

A claim against the abuser is also time barred, absent extraordinary circumstances and facts.
