Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I went on vacation and let so called friend hold onto car, when i returned was told car in shop but wont tell me where and says need pink slip to get out{ which didnt happen} now avoiding my calls completely, what legal action can i take.

Your car has been stolen. You can report it stolen to law enforcement, which you should have done immediately. You can also sue in a civil court for either the value of the car, or to demand its return.

call police and report a theft, and let them try to investigate and locate it.
You may also need to sue the 'friend' in small claims court if it is damaged or lost.
