Legal Question in Criminal Law in California

Violation of Probation

I was convicted of commercial burglary in Dec of 1997 and sentence to a fine, probation and community service. I paid the fine but left the state before contacting the probation department. I best as I am aware I have a standing warrant in Riverside, Ca. for violation of probation. I have no desire to return to Ca., but would like to put closure to this. I have maintained a decent life am married and own a home and have a great deal to lose if this is interrupted by an extradition to Ca. I was told that Ca., could chose to not extradite me and just maintain the warrant if ever I returned. I would however like to resolve this.

Any thoughts and advice would be appreciated.

Re: Violation of Probation

You should have an attorney check the court file to see if there is a warrant. If it was formal probation you failed to register for, then a warrant probably was issued. With six years clean history, I would think I could get the court to withdraw the warrant and only fine you for the failure. Contact me if you want to do this.
