Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
about three weeks ago my husband and I quit our job as caregivers , we moved from our apartment to another city. We just received a call from our former employer attorney claiming that there is an allegation against us for child abuse and senior abuse and that we needed to seek for attorney for our defense. What can we do?

As a Former Deputy District Attorney who has handled these cases for over 26 years, I can tell you that these allegations are quite serious. You should NOT speak to anyone other than your attorney. I have done 100's of pre-filing investigations in these matters and we attempt to have no charges filed against our client. You should be looking for an attorney who does this type of work. I wish you well.........David

Exactly as was suggested.
You are potentially facing serious felony charges, so immediately hire an attorney AND exercise the 5th Amendment right to SHUT UP and do NOT talk to police or anyone about the case except with and through an attorney. While this isn't a 'capital case', it certainly carries potential time, so handle it right. No amount of free 'tips and hints' from here or elsewhere are going to effectively help in a legal defense. If you don't know how to represent yourself effectively against an experienced prosecutor intending to convict, then hire an attorney who does, who will try to get a dismissal, charge reduction, diversion, programs, or other decent outcome through motions, plea bargain, or take it to trial if appropriate. If serious about hiring counsel to help in this, and if this is in SoCal courts, feel free to contact me. Ill be happy to help fight and get the best outcome possible, using whatever defenses and sympathies there may be. Ive been doing these cases for many years
