Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I use to work in a place and I did about 40 checks for small amounts ranging $150-250 each totaling in $9000, This happened a year ago...I just got a call from a Van Nuys Detective and she took my statement I was completly honest, so I asked her what will happen next she told me she didnt know if the DA would handle it as Misdeamenor or Felony, She said she would call me so I can go get processed the reason why she wont come and get me from my house is becuase I am 8 months pregnate, so my worry is what is usually the consequence for this and also when in processing how long will I be there, because I am working still and I dont want them to know what is happening and another of my worries is becuase I am pregnate I dont want to be in jail, this is my first offense and I am only 22.
Also a year ago when this happened I had asked for me and my x boss to settle an arraangement at the time he wanted $7000 right away and would leave the rest in payments I couldn't do that bvecuase my husband won too little and not only that I didnt have a job anymore...I am extremly worried about the sentence and also the Processing becuase Like I said Im 8 months pregnate, anemic, and I dont want to be in jail for any amount of time not even while being processed. Can someone please help me ??

The time to ask for help was before you confessed to so many crimes. You will almost certainly be charged, but probably after your baby is born. I wish I could be more encouraging.
You're going to need a lawyer. It sounds like you can't afford to hire one, so you will need to rely on the public defender. You may want to call their office now instead of waiting for charges to be filed.
Whatever you do, stop talking about your crimes. You could make your situation even worse than it already is.
yes, attending a police interview with an attorney & being prepared is the key. In your situation, just don't now give them any further info/ammo.
I'd suggest you talk to a local criminal defense attorney who can manage if/when charges are filed. Or as Mr Hoffman suggests, see if the PD will manage it for you at this preliminary stage. Good luck!
I recently posted a blog on point. Well, you will know for any future event (hopefully there will be none)
Good Luck!

So, you've already confessed to police, and now ask for help?
Hire experienced criminal defense counsel immediately. If serious about doing so, feel free to contact me. Ill be happy to help fight this and get the best outcome possible, using whatever defenses there may be.
