Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
I worked for a doctor, who eventually wanted to have sexual realtions, made a move, I quite, and he is now pressing charges on me for embezzelment for 100,000.00 never took a dime, I was the practice administrator and was in charge of the accounts and payroll. When he went out of the country he would leave checks made out to cash for be to make accounts balanced and pay bills, etc, if need be. I stepped into this mess of a practice, on my third day he leaves for Europe and fired the CPA, biller, and was various accounts in which he juggles money, and says, "he you go, your in charge was nieve getting into this because I have ran practices before but with my ex-husband. This was my first job on my own, and I didn't get anything in writting like I should have. What can I do to get out of this? I am 28, 5 kids, divorced facing going to prision for five years for something I never did!!!! I broke up with my ex for domestic violence issues and there is a restraining order in place, so it's not like I have him to rely on in the worst case senerio. Please give advice!

The doctor can't "press charges" - only the District Attorney can. Can he make a police report? Yes - so if this case is still in the investigation phase, don't say a word to anyone about anything - even if you did nothing wrong, you would hate any statements to be misunderstood and used against you.
If charges are filed - you are looking at years and years in prison based on the allegations and the amount of money you're being falsely accused of taking. The specifics of your defense and what options you have depend on all the reports against you and specifics of the case.
I practice almost exclusively in Orange County - I assume from the zip code you entered, that's where you are - let me know if you want to discuss representation further.

The best advice any of us can give you is to get a lawyer. You have too much at stake to handle it on your own based on brief internet responses like the ones available here.
If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer yourself and charges have been filed, you should be eligible for a public defender.
Good luck.
You can file discrimination and harassment charges in a civil lawsuit, but you have to defend against any criminal charges no matter what else you do. Immediate advice: exercise your right to remain silent and say NOTHING to anyone about any of these issues, except to your attorney. An embezzlement conviction will put you in prison, take this seriously. Feel free to contact asap me on both these issues, I've been doing such cases for over 30 years.
