Legal Question in Criminal Law in California
Im currently working for a private security firm. I've been a licensed security officer for over 10 years. BSIS training requirements state that 40 hours of training must be completed in a set time frame. 8 of those hours 30 days after your first employment. These hours I completed 10 years ago. My current employer scheduled me for a class and did not specify for what it was until the day of the class. The class was for the same 8 hour training course I completed 10 years ago. Even had I not already taken this class it was over 90 days past due. I explained to him that I already completed this training, and I could get him the certificates thats are from my understanding tracked by bsis at a later date. His response to me was it doesn't do him any good that day and that I have to take this class. My company charges its employees for all training classes. Even though I could have gotten proof of my taking them I was forced to pay the $120 for thw class that I didn't need In order to keep my job. Is this legal?

Employers make the rules. If you don't like them, you are free to quit and look for other work. But, you would be denied unemployment benefits because you quit.
