"Accused" as in you filing a police report, OR in the person being charged and now with a case in court?
Either way, you have a moral and legal duty to correct the problem you created for the person. And yes, you could possibly face charges yourself for 'false report'. You should consult with a local criminal defense attorney to help you work a 'deal' with police or prosecutors to try to avoid charges against you in return for you coming clean and clearing an innocent person.
