wrongly accused of petty theft

I was wrongly accused and arrested for a misdemeanor for petty theft from a department store. I signed a private statement for loss prevention saying I would pay any damages incurred if there was a misunderstanding. However, I do not feel the situation was handled properly. I was assigned a court date but want to contest it. In order to contest it I would be required to pay bail. I am unsure of how to proceed in this matter.

You've been charged with a crime, and you signed a confession. You need to hire an attorney; you should have done that at the time, to avoid the problems you now have created for yourself. Feel free to contact me if finally serious about dealing with this.

Unless you want to be unemployable for the rest of your life, you darn well better contest it. You Need A Criminal Defense Lawyer. Your first problem is going to be getting anybody to believe you are innocent even though you signed a confession, and don't tell me it wasn't a confession. You signed it!
