Legal Question in Discrimination Law in California

harrasment in the work place

I have been verbally harrassed in the office and I asked my supervisor to address the issue and nothing was done as a matter of fact I was mocked in the meeting to resolve this issue!

Your complaint of harassment gives rise to your employer's duty to investigate and take corrective action. On the few facts you've listed, it appears that you have a case. If you see fit, visit a local attorney to discuss further.

Re: harrasment in the work place

Unless it is 'discrimination' based upon sex, age, race, religion, etc., it is not 'illegal' or effectively actionable other than through WCAB stress claim if it reaches that level. No one said life is fair, or guaranteed you 'nice' treatment. If it is 'discrimination', feel free to contact me for help.

Re: harrasment in the work place

I agree with Mr. Meyer, if the harrassment you are speaking of is unlawful harrassment, such as sex or racial harrassment. But not all forms of harrassment are illegal. Some bosses are bullys, they can be mean and unreasonable but that does not make their unfair treatment illegal.

You'll need to provide more details to an experienced employment law attorney to determine if the treatment you've been subjected to is actionable by law.
