Legal Question in Discrimination Law in California
Using Statistics to prove national origin discrimination
A new outdoor shopping mall has just been built in my city. My city approx population of 207,000 and 40% around 82,000 are Armenian. The mall employees are not representative of the population of the city in fact the neighboring city has just as big of a population of Armenians as well but still all i see to put it bluntly are blond haired individuals. Is there somehow I can use statistics to prove that there is national origin discrimination going on? Given that I am qualified individual.

A protest march of a couple of dozen Armenians holding picket signs should do the trick. Remember to call and fax the TV stations well in advance.
Re: Using Statistics to prove national origin discrimination
If you and other people of Armenian ancestry or origin were to apply for a job and all were turned down, you could certainly could have a a solid claim. Barring that, you might not even have standing to make such a complaint.
Then again, a boycott (threatened or real) of the business for not hiring community members should gain someone's ear. In my neighborhood in San Francisco that used to be mostly African-American -- Asian-Americans opened up a rib joint, and none of the employees was African-American. A lone person picketed the place with a bullhorn for that reason. I don't know if it was the impetus, but the place shut down a short time later.
Public pressure, as Mr. Stone suggests, can make a difference, especially since the store is new to the community.
