Yes, you will need a lawyer. If you cannot afford to hire an attorney, ask the judge to appoint the public defender to represent you.
You must also contact DMV within ten days of your arrest to request a hearing, or DMV will automatically suspend your license for a year. This is a DMV proceeding completely separate from the criminal case. If you hire a private attorney, he or she will most likely handle the DMV proceedings, too, but a public defender will only represent you in the criminal case.
That's up to you. You face potential jail time, fines, loss of license, probation, etc. If you are capable of representing yourself against a DA trying to put you in jail., that's your decision. If not, then feel free to contact me if serious about handling it right. If you can't afford counsel, apply to the Public Defender.
Better to do whatever you can to keep your license. Contact me directly.
