Legal Question in DUI Law in California

Arrested out of state for DUI

My son has a NH license but was arrested in CA. He has a hearing on 5/7/08 and I was wondering what can happen. Can he return home to NH, or will he have to stay in CA? What are the penalties for a NH driver arrested for DUI in CA?

If you would like to discuss this further my office would be happy to help your son. There are different things which can affect him here in CA. He will likely be able to return home, but depending on the circumstance he may have penalties he will have to address in CA.

In which county was he arrested?

On this type of charge, an attorney can appear on his behalf and he doesn't have to be present. Everything can be handle via phone and snail mail.

Potential penalties are the same as anyone else: jail time, fines, alcohol school attendance, suspension of license, etc. If he is serious about getting the legal help he'll need, feel free to have him contact me, if the case is in SoCal.
