Legal Question in DUI Law in California
Bench Warrant
I was convicted of a DWI in CA in March of 2003. I was subsequently let go from my place of employment (US Navy). I was unable to finishing paying my fine, due to lack of money. In June 2003, CA issued a bench warrant.
I am in the process of being hired for an internship with the Veterans Administration (VA). I thought my warrant was cleared because I eventually paid of my fine, after submitting my paperwork for a background check I was informed there was still a bench warrant for me. I live in MN and I am trying to get this warrant cleared and when I called the San Diego Court system they told me I had to get an attorney. I called an attorney here in MN and they told me there was nothing they could do for me. Could you please tell what steps I need to take in order to clear this warrant, I cannot afford to fly to CA because of school and hopefully, eventually my being hired by the VA. Is it possible to get my probation transferred to MN and finish what ever the court system wants me to do in order to clear this warrant. I have a copy of the warrant and can either fax or scan and e-mail a copy of it to you. I appreciate any assistance you may be able to provide in order to clear this matter up.

Re: Bench Warrant
Since the DUI is a misdemeanor, an attorney can appear for you, without you having to come to CA, and negotiate a plea bargain for you. If you actually have paid and done everything you were supposed to, then I would bet the warrant could be recalled upon payment of a fine to the court. Feel free to contact me for the representation you'll need.

I am sure there is something that can be done in this situation. If you wish you may contact me. I have a relative atty that lives out there.
Re: Bench Warrant
I am a San Diego attorney that knows DUI. I am happy to try and help you with this matter. I have handled many DUI's and cleared many warrants. Since you paid your fine, this may be a clearable warrant without your presence.
Please let me know at your earliest convenience if you would like this handled by a San Diego lawyer very familiar with DUI.
