Legal Question in DUI Law in California

A defendant plead no contest in a DUI hearing in California in 2008, she recieved a large fine and community service and some classes, the fine was paid however they failed to complete the community service and never turned in the completion certificates for the classes and lost them over the years, there is a bench warrant issued in early 2009. What options might she have in this scenario?

Options are either to find a copy of the completion to provide the court, or do the course over. Contact the school and try to get a copy. Either way, she has to go to court to deal with the warrant, and better have a good answer about the completion to offer the judge if she wants to stay out of jail. If serious about hiring counsel to help in this, feel free to contact me.

It's clear some parts of the court order were not complied with...the community service. The part regarding the school needs to be checked into to see if the school has the documents to prove you DID complete that. If not, the judge will probably make you do it all over. If you completed the school, you should have turned that in to the DMV, to get your licence reinstated. Ultimitely you have to have the case called and a court appearance is neccessary. Call a lawyer NOW, and talk it over with him/her to get a feeling for that court and that particular judge regarding the possibility of jail.Call me if you have any other questions..I wish you well.....David Wallin
