Legal Question in DUI Law in California

DUI Class Requirement 18 years ago

My friend had his 3rd DUI in 1988. The court gave him (he says) an alternate sentence other than ordering him to attend classes; however, the DMV said he must complete the 18 month Drinking Driver classes. This requirement still showed on his license when we checked about 2 years ago,so his license is still suspended. Will this ever drop off his record or is this something that he will never be able to get around??????

Your friend will have to take and complete the DMV's required course. Only then will he be able to obtain a clear license. Good luck.

It MAY be possible to correct the problem without the class. It would require his attorney make a court appearance to request a clarifying order that can then be filed with DMV. Have him contact me if interested in pursuing investigation.
