Legal Question in DUI Law in California

failure to appear on dui case

been convicted already. but missed court date last year to follow up on progress to pay damages in accident. i got laid off from work and was in fear of goingt to jail. so i was try to get money together to pay court fines. etc. in the year i haven't shown up. unfortunately i can't get the money together or even get a job. so i need to turn myself in, as i'm positive there are warrants for my arrest.

i never meant to run or hide, just was fearfull of jail, after have seeing it when i was arrested after dui incident. i would just like some advice before i go to turn myself in, what i can expect to happen, and how long i might have to stay in jail. etc. i need to have my life back..tired of being down on my luck. i want to do the right things.

Re: failure to appear on dui case

If you get an attorney to appear with you when you voluntarily turn yourself into the court, he can likely get the court to withdraw the warrant and negotiate a 'deal' that will keep you out of jail. Expect to pay some fines as penalty for ignoring the court orders. plus be prepared to work out a payment schedule on the damages. You've got to show 'good faith' here in trying to do the right thing. Feel free to contact me for the help you'll need.

Your FTA and DUI will depend on whether you have good defense to the underlying DUI. You still will likely have a charge for Failure to Appear. You should get an attorney that knows DUI, and try to defend yourself.

I am happy to discuss this with you at your convenience.
