Whether he should have an attorney is up to him and you. Is your son experienced and capable of conducting his criminal defense against a professional DA who's job it is to get a conviction? Admittedly, this is not a major jail time case, but it does carry risk. Feel free to contact me if serious about getting counsel.

All criminal charges are serious and can cause your son to be unemployable, forever. Hire him a lawyer well in advance of his court date.

YES. He should take this seriously. People who do not take these matters seriously end up in jail.
