Legal Question in DUI Law in California

I was fined at traffic court for passing a red light. I requested traffic schooling, and was granted a three month period to take traffic school, otherwise the record of my violation would be reported to my insurance company. However, three month has passed and then some (it's now about 5 months) and I haven't finished the online courses. Is there a point in finishing the school now, or would that be wasted time because my record has already been submitted to my insurance company?

Online traffic school takes most people a couple hours at most, so you have little excuse for not timely finishing. Your case is already finished, the point[s] are already recorded against your license, so NO, there is no legal benefit to 'finishing' as the DMV will not accept the completion certificate. You might benefit from the material and knowledge gained by finishing.

If your case in court is closed, there best you can hope for is to get your case put on calendar and request a second chance at traffic school and that they vacate the conviction and point. The judge may not grant your request though since you've waited so long after when you were due.

Unless the court will undo the conviction, finishing traffic school now won't do you any good.
