Legal Question in DUI Law in California

My nephew (over 21) got a DUI while visiting as a tourist (from Mexico) in the LA area on June of 2006. He left the country and then he came back to be present on court on August of 2008. He got jailed for a few days to pay for his mistake, then he went back to Mexico. he needs to get a confirmation from the court saying that his case has been closed.....Has it? How do we get this information so he can come back as a tourist to the USA?

He can contact that court clerk's office and have the case record reviewed to see the status. If it is closed, he can get a certified copy of the court minutes for his use. That doesn't mean he will be allowed to legally enter the US or other countries. For instance, Canada refuses entry to anyone ever convicted of DUI. He should check with the country's consulate regarding admission rules.
