The complete answer to this question is so long and complex that email is too cumbersome to deal with it. You need to have a conversation with a criminal lawyer experienced in DUI/DMV law. But, you have only 10 days from the date of the accident/arrest to request a hearing at the DMV, and failure to do so will result in the loss of substantial rights. So, don't wait. Consult with a criminal lawyer in your area immediately. I notice that your zip code is in the LA area. If you'd like to talk to me about your case, don't hesitate to contact me via email and we can arrange to talk. Good luck. Steve Mandell

Next step? Hire an experienced attorney to represent you in the criminal case; then follow his advice. If you damaged other people, cars or property, you also will be sued in civil court, so pray your insurance covers you under these circumstances. Feel free to contact me if serious about protecting yourself in the criminal case.

These issues are complex. You not only have criminal issues, but you may also have immigration issues. You could have your rights substantially minimized by not taking the proper steps immediately. My office handles DUI almost exclusively, and I am very familiar with immigration issues. If you want to make sure your rights are protected contact my office immediately. I will even take the time to talk to you today if you feel the need.
