Legal Question in DUI Law in California
restraining order trial
I'm handling my case In Pro Per and am terrified of representing myself and having to face my ex-husband after everything he's done to me. I know that he has a lawyer, and that intimidates me even more. He uses intimidation tactics on everyone who doesn't give him what he wants. What advise can you give me on cross examination (i.e. proper legal wording and keeping composure) to give me the confidence and knowledge to NOT back out? He terrifies me!

Re: restraining order trial
Unless you are quite confident of being able to professionally handle a legal case, following all the required procedures and rules, in the pressure cooker environment of the courtroom, you should get counsel. There is no advice anyone can give you that will make this situation easy, and there is no time to give you a law school education or on-job training that an experienced attorney has acquired. If you chose to do this yourself, make an outline of the points you need to testify to, so you can refer to them and raise them all. Keep calm and focus on the issues. Use clear short statements and questions, don't wander around and confuse everybody and yourself. Practice on friends for their comments and suggestions.
