Statute of Limitations for Outstanding DUI warrant

My boyfriend has several warrents in California stemming from a DUI from about 5 years ago. He had been in the process of attending classes and had paid all the fines, etc. Before he could complete his classes he was assigned a job in Canada. He was not able to complete his classes and warrents were issued. My question is this, what is the statute of limitations for a DUI? If enough time passes will the warrants ''go away''? If not what is the best course of action in trying to resolve this problem short of returning to California and turning himself in?

Warrants are forever, meaning that crossing the border into the US could result in arrest. You need to hire counsel to appear and negotiate a resolution of the problems caused by fleeing. There is no guarantee, but if this is the only charge, it may be possible to resolve it with fines, however, the court ordered classes that he didn't finish, thus jail time is a possible outcome - depends on the judge and how persuasive the attorney can be.
