Legal Question in Elder Law in California
Legality or just ethics issue?
70 yr old widow with cancer has hired an attorney and given him power of attorney to make her medical and financial decisions. She has family but is worried they are just after her money. Can the attorney legally make himself the beneficiary of her assets or is this just an ethics issue?

It's unethical and improper, so have the family contact another attorney to take action to prevent this from happening. Feel free to contact me if serious.

being the agent under powers of attorney is not the same as being a beneficiary. If the attorney is a beneficiary under documents the attorney drafted, then that is a problem.
