Legal Question in Elder Law in California
person who does the familiy tax business has not left the house this year
The person who comes down each year to do the tax business in our deceased mothers home has not left the house this year. We are afraid she is waiting for dad to die and then claim squatter's rights. Can she do this?

NO. Go kick her out, and call the police if she won't leave.

It is possible that she is unduely influencing your father. She may have created a trust for him to sign leaving everything to her. If she hasn't done it yet, then expect it to happen soon. I deal with those types of things all the time. Use extreme diligence here.
