Legal Question in Family Law in California

I'm 18 and entering my junior year of college, but it's getting really hard to afford. I've never received child support from my father and was wondering if it's possible to start claiming it now or sue for the past years. My mother and I have tried contacting him with no response. He is in Maryland and we are in California.

It's a little too late now. Your mother should have filed for child support when your father left.
